Following a trip by Philippine officials to Hong Kong, Malacañang announced Wednesday that the issue regarding the 2010 Manila hostage crisis has been resolved and that the relationship between the Philippines and the administrative region is now back to normal.

In a statement, Presidential Communications Operations Office head Herminio Coloma Jr. quoted Cabinet Sec. Jose Rene Almendras as saying "the relationship between the Philippines and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is now back to normal."

"We join the Department of Foreign Affairs in acknowledging the statement of Hong Kong Chief Executive C.Y. Leung on the complete and final resolution of the Quirino Grandstand incident of 23 August 2010 and the lifting of the sanctions," he said. — Kimberly Jane Tan/KBK, GMA News
