Greeks have lost Holy Orthodoxy - they do not know how to behave proper in
church. Women have to cover their hair - and it is not allowed to enter a
church with such "beach clothes" Shame on greeks - the betrayers of
Orthodoxy1

News Report:

Thousands head to Pampanga barangay for traditional crucifixion

Nearly 50,000 people flocked to the sleepy barangay of San Pedro Cutud in San Fernando, Pampanga on Good Friday to witness the crucifixion of devotees there.

Ruben Enaje, who played Jesus Christ in the town’s Via Crucis-or Way of the Cross-passion play, reached the small hill designated “Mount Calvary” by 2 pm, according to a GMA News TV Flash Report.

There, he was made to suffer by people playing the role of Roman soldiers, before being nailed to the cross at 3 pm, traditionally believed to be the time that Jesus Christ was crucified.

Enaje and others acted out the Way of the Cross, showing the suffering of Jesus Christ before he was finally nailed to the cross.

The three devotees remained nailed to their crosses for 10 minutes, after which they were brought to a medical booth to have their wounds treated.

The 53-year-old Enaje, who has been nailed to the cross 28 times so far, said he will keep doing it until a suitable replacement is found for him.

Foreign and local tourists flocked to the small village to witness the crucifixion, including one woman who traveled all the way from Yolanda-stricken Tacloban City in Leyte.

San Pedro Cutud’s Via Crucis has become a popular tourist attraction for those who wish to see the intense devotion of some Filipino Catholics.

Despite this, the Catholic Church discourages the practice, saying there are other ways to show love and sacrifice such as fasting and doing charity work. — Patricia Denise Chiu/JDS, GMA News
